About Us

The company was set up in 2008 by Sheffield chemistry student, Joe White and his Thai girlfriend (now wife), Cherry. Joe, a very keen climber had fallen in love with Thailand, its people and its food on the many climbing trips he undertook in that beautiful part of the world. After Joe and Cherry got married, Joe went to live in Thailand to be with Cherry whilst she finished at medical school and, with the whole Thai family involved, decided to start the Thai Curry Company.

The Thai curry company is all about authenticity. Eating a meal from a Thai curry kit is exactly the same experience as eating in a Thai family home, in fact the recipes for the red and green curries came from Cherry's family.

Joe and Cherry were confident that the well travelled British public who have such an interest in all things 'Thai', were ready and eager to continue the experience of genuine, spicy Thai food when back home. Joe and Cherry's driving passion for the company is to share the concept that fresh, natural, wholesome Thai food is quick and easy to prepare, absolutely delicious and is, in fact, the perfect 'fast food'.

Chantra Thai Red RiceThe red and green curries were showcased at the Birmingham Trade exposition in 2008 and then at the Birmingham BBC Food and Drink show in 2009 where the public's response was overwhelming.

Since those early days, the company has grown and now offers Jasmine rice, authentic Thai herbs and, new to the UK, red Thai rice. More, milder curry kits are under production to accommodate those who are unable to enjoy the explosive, spicy flavours of the authentically fiery red and green curries.
